Fines begin at $100 a day and increase incrementally at $100 per day, and the fines will turn up longshoremen ready and eager to unload ships? It’s getting a bit disturbing out there. Headline: CNBC: “Bidenhopes fines on lingering cargo containers ease congestion at major U.S. Ports.” What? The reported reason for “lingering cargo containers” is that there is no one available to unload the ships! So we’re going to fine them for not unloading, when the problem is that they cannot find anyone to unload?
