The Granite Republic

North of Boston

America’s greatest newspaper, the New Hampshire Union Leader, is conducting a reader survey asking if the Granite State should secede from the United States of America. I’m voting yes. Obviously.

As a matter of fact, over eighty percent of respondents have also voted for independence, as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Extraordinary.

Please, if you’re not a resident of New Hampshire, don’t respond to this survey. We can win, fair and square. But do bask in its glory.

Like every true patriot, I’m a local patriot, an Anti-Federalist through and through.

And while I may not want to see the Union entirely dissolved, I think it would be nice for the states to go their separate ways. Then maybe we could re-negotiate our relationship on more agreeable terms.  (Bring back the Articles of Confederation, I say.)

The Granite State is dead; long live the Granite Republic!
